Depending on the length of the course, after completion of each course video & quiz, you will qualify for a certificate of completion for Continuing Education Hours.

Advanced Ethics for Prevention Professionals

The Advanced Ethics for Prevention Professionals course provide participants opportunities to refresh their understanding of the six principles of the Prevention Code of Ethics, explore ethical issues related to prevention topics, and practice applying the Prevention Code of Ethics to real-life situations using an ethical decision-making process.

Introduction to Adolescent SBIRT from a Prevention Perspective

The Introduction to Adolescent SBIRT from a Prevention Perspective eLearning course provides an overview of the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) protocol for use with adolescents (ages 9 to 22). The content of this e-learning course was designed for prevention professionals, school personnel, social workers, addictions counselors, and other non-medical professionals working with adolescents and young adults, in HHS Region 8. Professionals working and residing outside of HHS Region 8 states are welcome to take this course. However, the data sections in the course are specific to HHS Region 8 states (CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, WY).

Self-Care in a Selfless Field

We are currently living in unprecedented and difficult times. Prevention specialists, in addition to experiencing the current global pandemic, also listen to painful and distressing experiences which can lead to compassion fatigue and burnout. This course will help you learn more about possible signs of burnout, how to implement self-care practices in your daily life, and receive available resources to combat the effects of work-related stress.

Suicide Prevention Across the Educational Continuum: 5-Part Course Series

This online course series provides participants with information related to suicide prevention across the educational continuum for youth, young adults, and college students. Course topics include: how to assess for suicidality in school settings, prevention interventions for the K-12 populations and in a college setting, crisis response planning for suicidal patients, and new research regarding the relationships between genetics and those at risk of suicide. 

This Suicide Prevention Webinar Series was a collaboration between the Mountain Plains Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MP-MHTTC) and the Mountain Plains Prevention Technology Transfer Center (MP-PTTC) located in HHS Region 8 (CO, MT, SD, UT, WY).

Informing Prevention for Adolescents: 6-Part Course Series

This series focuses on different aspects of prevention regarding adolescents. Participants will learn about adolescent development, engaging adolescents in interventions, how to use epidemiological data effectively, how to use technology for school-based prevention, the effects of drug use on the adolescent brain, and finally vaping among adolescents. 

6 hours of CEHs (if the entire series is completed).
