Inter-Tribal Advisory Council Meeting at CADCA Conference

The American Indian & Alaska Native Mental Health TTC and Prevention TTC were invited to attend the Inter-Tribal Advisory Council Meeting during CADCA's 30th Annual National Leadership Forum & SAMHSA's 16th Prevention Day. The conference took place on February 3-6, 2020 in National Harbor, Maryland.

The group is focusing on increasing Native capacity to build Native coalitions focusing on the prevention of substance use and misuse, creating space for Native voices and concerns at CADCA events, and increasing the number of DFC (Drug-Free Communities) coalitions addressing tribal needs. Discussion was held on how to develop partnerships, build on and share information about available resources, and build capacity and membership of the Inter-Tribal Advisory Council. GONA (Gathering of Native Americans) training opportunities and talking circles were discussed as important to contributing to healing Native communities and paving the way for prevention activities.
