The 2020 Northwest PTTC Prevention Leadership Academy engaged sixty-six regional leaders in the prevention workforce to identify and build upon their creative problem-solving strengths, strategic planning, and charismatic communication. The Academy's first four sessions braided leadership principles, Liberating Structures, and six research-based elements of effective teams and coalitions. Before each of the 1.5 to four-hour live zoom sessions, participants completed individual learning assignments, including taking a leadership assessment and listening to the Northwest PTTC Lessons in Leading podcast series. The podcast series features stories, lessons learned, and tips from prevention leaders in the northwest region.  During the Academy, participants explored five qualities of an effective leader, leadership practices, and ten leadership commitments. Participants learned fifteen Liberating Structures to foster active participation and create innovation among team members, collaborators, and communities. Upon conclusion, participants developed a leadership plan and explored how to support another to achieve their leadership goals in an on-going community of practice.
