Prevention Experience:

Supervised Prevention Experience:

3,200 of 3,500 hours must be paid and supervised work experience;
120 hours of supervised practicum in the six core performance domains requiring 20 hours in each domain;

Educational / Training Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED
150 total continuing education/training contact hours in prevention to include the following:
6 hours of professional prevention ethics in the past two years.
50 hours of ATOD education/training
80 hours must be obtained in the past two years with at least 60 of these 80 hours obtained outside the applicant’s place of employment.
No more than 40 hours of web-based training (Adobe Connect, etc.) are allowed.

Examination: Pass IC&RC written examination

References & Recommendations: Three letters of recommendation

Pre-IC&RC Certification Level Title: Certified Prevention Technician

Pre- IC&RC Certification Level Requirements:

2,000 hours paid or volunteer prevention experience obtained within the past eight years;
120 hours of supervised practicum in the six core performance domains requiring 20 hours in each domain.
60 continuing education/training contact hours in prevention to include the following:
6 hours of professional prevention ethics in the past two years.
