Series Description:

The Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST) is an innovative training that blends a pre-requisite, self-paced online course with a combination of live, interactive sessions conducted over video conferencing and individual homework activities completed between the live sessions. Grounded in current research and SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), the SAPST provides foundational knowledge and skills necessary to implement effective, data-driven prevention interventions that improve substance-related outcomes, reduce behavioral health disparities, and improve wellness.

 

Audience:

Pre-selected Prevention Professionals from the California National Guard Counter-Drug Task Force

 

Dates and Times:

April 5, 7, 12, and 14, 2021

8:30 am - 9:00 am PDT: Optional Welcome and Opening Activities

9:00 am - 3:00 pm PDT: Curriculum and Discussion Activities

We will take 30 minute lunch breaks and other short breaks throughout the training period.

Technical Requirements:

This training requires access to the appropriate technology to use the online video conferencing platform Zoom. This includes:
• Internet connection
• Built-in or USB webcam
• Laptop or desktop computer
• Built-in/USB/ Bluetooth speakers and microphone

Please note that participating in this training on a smartphone or tablet will not work due to numerous online tools needed for during small group activities.

 

Continuing Education:

Participants who complete this training will receive a certificate of participation. No partial credit is given for this course. Participants will need to confirm with their certification board to determine if these certification hours are accepted towards their specific certification requirements.

 

Registration

Enrollment in this course is limited. Please be prepared to attend all the sessions in full as well as complete the required Pre-Course Homework prior to the first session, and the corresponding Homework throughout SAPST. Pre-course homework will be emailed to you by March 15 using the email you include in this registration form.
