AdCare Educational Institute of Maine, Inc. is seeking to hire a highly-motivated individual into a new Prevention Fellowship Program being implemented through its New England Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) program. This one year fellowship, funded by SAMHSA, is part of a national fellowship program working to train and sustain a well-trained and knowledgeable cadre of prevention professionals who understand and exemplify the principles and best practices of substance use prevention.
The New England PTTC’s Prevention Fellowship Program is focused on increasing the number of prevention professionals working within Black/African American communities and building their capacity to identify and chronicle programs, practices, and policies proven effective in reducing substance misuse risk factors and consequences and promoting mental health and protective factors or assets in Black/African American communities.
This is a paid full-time, one-year fellowship that will be placed with Rhode Island’s Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH), located in Cranston, Rhode Island. Fellows will work on projects as assigned by their placement site but will also have a portion of their time dedicated to learning and capacity development activities coordinated by the Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) network. The Fellow will receive mentorship from prevention staff at their placement site as well as through AdCare’s PTTC program staff.
Duties and tasks include:
Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree but also appropriate for Bachelor and Master’s level students, preference in fields of public health, behavioral health, and related fields.

Travel: Occasional statewide travel within Rhode island required along with out-of-state travel for up to 3 PTTC Network Fellows cohort trainings held in locations-to-be-determined within the United States.
Technical requirements: Position will be located at the offices of BHDDH in Rhode Island, but there may be periods of telecommuting. Reliable internet service is required for attending staff meetings, hosting, or attending virtual training sessions, meetings, and other outreach.
Supervision: Position reports to AdCare Maine Associate Executive Director. Programmatic work will also be overseen and mentored by the Associate Administrator of the Prevention, Fiscal and Contracts Unit at BHDDH.
Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move a maximum of 40lbs.; position requires sitting, standing, bending, and repetitive movements.
This is a full-time position. This is a time-limited position for 12 months. Pay range $50,000 - $55,000
