Description

In collaboration with the Pacific Southwest Rural Opioid Technical Assistance Center, the Pacific
Southwest PTTC is offering an introductory training on the primary prevention of substance misuse.
This two-day training will introduce those who are new to primary prevention and those who looking
for a basic refresher on key aspects of both prevention science and prevention application.
Participants will briefly learn about different substances and their potential harms, key prevention
frameworks, and practice the application of prevention science.

 

Learning Objectives

After this event, participants will be able to

  • Define Primary Prevention
  • Name at least 2 categories of substances and their pharmacological properties
  • Name at least 2 reasons why people might use substances and potential harms
  • Describe at least 2 prevention theories, frameworks, or models
  • Describe each step of the Strategic Prevention Framework
