Optimizing our Immune System with Indigenous Food Knowledge

Published:
August 31, 2023

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) offered a 4-part series of webinars and training in August in recognition of National Immunization Awareness Month to highlight and recognize the importance of immunizations.

Our ancestors were no strangers to sickness and drew from traditional knowledge to keep them well. Join us on Thursday, September 7, as Marley Fisher discuss how nutrition and other lifestyle factors support immune health. She will explore traditional Indigenous foods that contain immune-supporting nutrients and look beyond that into how traditional food systems support immune health.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe omega-3's role as an anti-inflammatory.
  • Discuss the disproportionate effect covid-19 has had on those with diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.
