What is it?
 

Assessment is the first step of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). Assessment involves identifying local prevention needs based on data. It is important to assess the nature and extent of both substance use and misuse problems and related behaviors in the community in order to complete the other steps of the SPF.
