The expected time commitment for this training is 31 hours. Participants must complete the entire SAPST training to receive a certificate for 31 hours of participation. No partial credit will be given. Course requirements and participant expectations are outlined on the next page of this document.
Completion of the 5-hour HealtheKnowledge online course, "Introduction to Substance Abuse Prevention: Understanding the Basics (Pre-SAPST Course)", is required prior to the training. Course certificates must be uploaded via the form provided by the Central East PTTC no later than October 28, 2022

4. Go to https://forms.gle/XRkrBAdnkfv88Ldm9 and upload your certificate. Be sure to use the same email address that you used to register for SAPST.

Full attendance is required for this training. Credit will not be given for partial attendance. No exceptions.
• Expected time commitment: 26 hours face-to-face, 5 hours online
• Training Dates & Times:
• Monday, October 31 at 9AM–5PM ET
• Tuesday, November 1 at 9AM–5PM ET
• Wednesday, November 2 at 9AM–5PM ET
• Thursday, November 3 at 9AM–5PM ET
• The sessions listed above include time for lunch and breaks.
Participants will have two 15 minutes breaks and 1 hour lunch break
• Participants are expected to arrive15 minutes early for each session.
Active participation during each session is expected. This means:
• Engaging in group discussions both verbally and via chat
• Engaging in group activities
• Participating in polls
• Having your webcam on at all times for ALL sessions
• Being prepared for each session with the following:
• Paper, pen
• Plan to purchase lunch ahead of time if possible. You may also bring a lunch and snacks if you wish
• Course handouts (more information provided below)
Participants will receive the binder of all PowerPoint slides and handouts at the training.
Participants will complete an online or hard copy evaluation at the end of the training.
Participants must complete the entire SAPST training to receive a certificate for 31 hours of participation. No partial credit will be given.
Certificate of Attendance will be issued the last day of the training. Participants can then submit the certificate to their credentialing authority toward certification or re-certification. Please contact your certification board to determine if the SAPST is applicable toward your certification requirements.
The IC&RC Prevention Committee has endorsed the SAPST as an IC&RC-approved curriculum. This endorsement provides assurance that the SAPST is applicable to IC&RC’s prevention specialist domains and can be used toward the education/training requirement for IC&RC’s Prevention Specialist credential. The SAPST has also been approved by NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals.
