Applying a Racial Equity Lens to Our Prevention Work

 

The Great Lakes PTTC offers this training for prevention practitioners and behavioral health professionals in HHS Region 5: IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, and WI.  This training is offered in response to a need identified by Region 5 stakeholders.

This webinar will focus on the importance of applying a racial equity “lens” to effective prevention and offer practical tools for integrating racial equity frameworks into prevention practice.  

 

Learning Objectives

  • Define a racial equity lens and its application in prevention
  • Explore the historic and contemporary relationship of prevention to racial equity and the implications – especially in the context of community-based work
  • Describe practical approaches to developing prevention strategies that are informed by a racial equity lens, including their application to the SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF)
